MOVING PARTS: Articulated Bodies and Objects in Performance/ PIECES MOBILES: Corps articulés et objects dans la performance

Moving Parts: Articulated Objects and Bodies in Performance is a sequence of artistic and theoretical exchanges, extending a dialogue among performers, visual artists, and scholars working with performing objects and bodies — and the sympathetic and often mysterious relations between the two. Moving Parts began with a 2018 residency supported by the Habitation program of Tangente in Montreal, followed by a 2018 symposium at Concordia University’s Department of Theatre, and an edition of the Café Concret cabaret at Studio 303. The project concludes with the gathering of the essays, texts, and images in this book. Twelve voices from the fields of dance, community theatre, puppetry and visual art convene to consider and illuminate the life-long encounter between objects and bodies. This anthology collects methods, analyses, informal reflections, histories and poetics offering a series of frames for thinking through object-body relations both in performance and off stage.

Pièces Mobiles: corps articulés et objets dans la performance est une séquence d’échanges artistiques et théoriques qui étend un dialogue entre artistes de la scène, artistes visuels et chercheurs travaillant avec les objets et les corps en performance — et les relations sympathiques et souvent mystérieuses qui les lient. Pièces Mobiles a commencé par une résidence, en 2018, soutenue par le programme Habitation de Tangente à Montréal, suivie par un symposium en 2019 au département de théâtre de l’Université Concordia puis d’une édition du cabaret du Café Concret au Studio 303, et se termine par le rassemblement des essais, textes et images de ce livre. Douze voix issues des domaines de la danse, du théâtre communautaire, du théâtre de marionnettes et des arts visuels se réunissent pour réfléchir et éclairer la rencontre entre les objets et les corps tout au long d’une vie. Cette anthologie rassemble des méthodes, des pensées, des histoires et des poésies offrant une série de cadres de réflexion sur les relations entre les objets et les corps, tant sur la scène qu’en dehors.
